Reveals - Chocolate Box 2018

Now that we're finally a couple days past author reveals I can finally do a write up. This was my first time I've participated in Chocolate Box and I actually really liked how everything went. I was super excited for this exchange since I'd been wanting to prompt some nice shippy fic for my OTPs for a while. I ended up being an initial pinch hit, which is probably because I request the same small fandoms every exchange lol.
I received three fics this time (I've been super lucky with treats, I got three for yuletide. I didn't do a write up because I defaulted and was dealing with some mental health issues but my main gift was an absolutely TERRIFIC monster of a fic that I can't praise enough)
I was given two really excellent fics (here is a link to the series, [x]) with my OTP Taagnus, the first was one of my favorite formats, five times fic. I'm absolutely a sucker for it and I loved the little peeks at their growing relationship. I really loved the little bit of Taako sleeping with Magnus pre-I.P.R.E, it's one of my favorite silly fic tropes where someone ends up meeting their one night stand again, it's awkward, and then they fall in love because Reasons.
Then the second fic was a PWP with breathplay, which is up there for one of my favorite kinks. I love that the two of them, wasting no time and jumping each other's bones.
The third fic was for Fallout: New Vegas (read here: [x]) and an absolutely wonderful fic with Arcade/M!Courier post-Dead Money. I was so happy to see it. Poor Arcade fussing over his traumatized and fucked up boyfriend and realizing just how much he cares about him <33
I was just super ecstatic at being able to go "TWO CAKES!" when seeing my gifts page.
Now, onto things I wrote.
First, there's the gen fic I wrote with Angus & Taako, Candlenights. I really wanted to write something short and cute with the two of them since I love their interactions in canon, especially that Taako obviously loves Angus and would kill for this small flesh boy even though he teases him mercilessly. So I asked my good friend for some ideas and our conversation went like this:
and then they suggested the Fantasy Rubiks Cube™
I had a lot of fun imagining Angus going to Lucretia and asking her to teach him how to knit and him knitting a fair isle style sweater for Taako. I was super happy with the reception my fic got as well, I didn't think it'd get as much attention as I did.
Next is the other TAZ fic I wrote. forever in your heart, for hyenateeth. I've actually written for this person before as a pinch hit and figured I would pick them up again since I really liked their prompts and they were a very gracious recip the first time.
I had a lot of fun writing Lupcretia, it's my OTP and I spend an not insignificant amount of time thinking of scenarios for the two of them. (Eventually I'll post the currently 5k sad WIP I'm working on...) I was thinking of a 5 times fic but decided to do different cycles because of how well it works for the format. I wanted to write some sweet sweet pining between the two of them.
Last but not least was my main assignment, Tell Me How for psychomachia who left me such a long lovely comment! I was actually really nervous writing it since I wasn't sure if my initial idea that was a weird mishmash of my personal NV headcanons would be appealing and if I could get House's voice down right. But, I spent a lot of time reading his dialogue files and mentally rereading his dialogue to see if it sounded like him. I struggled a bit getting where I wanted to go, but I'm actually super happy with how the fic turned out. I just really loved the idea of House taking his favorite employee on a dinner date, especially my courier Luis who is just very...oblivious at best.
As always, my number one struggle is titling my fics but this time it was fairly easy. I usually pick a song title matching the ship/characters, for New Vegas I wanted to pick a Buddy Holly song since most of the quests are named after songs from the time period. I named forever in your heart, after a lyric from Immortal by Marina in the Diamonds because the song gives me serious Lupcretia feels.
Overall, I had a lot of fun with this exchange and the collection had some really delightful gems of fics. I definitely would sign up again next year!
